Interocular transfer and overtraining in the rabbit.

چکیده
The possible effect of overtraining on interocular transfer of striated pattern discrimination was studied in Chinchilla rabbits. Over-training did not improve the low level of interocular transfer generally found in rabbits.

Role of visual cortex in interocular transfer in the cat.
The role of the visual cortex (areas 17, 18, and 19), with its preponderance of binocular cells, was investigated as a locus important for interocular transfer. Fourteen cats were tested for interocular transfer of a series of brightness and pattern discriminations in a two-choice, positive reinforcement paradigm. Three were controls. Eleven underwent manipulations designed to reduce the number...

Objective(s): The effect of prolonged overtraining on cytokine kinetics was compared with moderate exercise in the present study. Materials and Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control sedentary (C), moderate trained (MT), (V=20 m/min, 30 min/day for 6 days a week, 8 weeks), overtrained (OT) (V=25 m/min, 60min/day for 6 days a week, 11 weeks) and recovered overtrai...
متن کاملInterocular transfer of simultaneous but not successive discriminations in the pigeon
Pigeons were trained with one eye covered on each of two types of visual discriminations. They then were tested for interocular transfer with the previously covered eye. Transfer was shown by every pigeon trained on a simultaneous discrimination, while lack of transfer was shown by these same pigeons when trained on a spatial conditional (successive) discrimination. As opposed to the pigeon, an...
متن کاملInterocular transfer of orientation-specific fMRI adaptation reveals amblyopia-related deficits in humans
We devised an experimental strategy for assessing the cortical cross-talk between ocular subsystems. For this purpose we measured the interocular transfer of adaptation (IOTA) at different levels in the human brain, using orientation-selective fMRI adaptation. We tested 10 normally sighted and 10 stereoblind or stereodeficient amblyopic observers by adapting monocularly to phase-reversing, obli...
متن کاملInterocular transfer in normal humans, and those who lack stereopsis.
Interocular transfer of the tilt aftereffect was investigated in normal humans with good stereopsis and in subjects without stereoscopic vision. These latter subjects were divided into two groups: those with and those without a history of strabismus. Strabismic subjects showed grossly reduced interocular transfer of the effect (12% mean transfer). Nonstrabismic subjects had moderate transfer (4...
